News - T C Beirne School of Law to take up editorship of prestigious journal

The T C Beirne School of Law is set to take up editorship of the prestigious LAWASIA Journal and, according to the general editor, the School will endeavor to maintain the high standard of quality for which the journal is known.

An agreement was recently signed by The University of Queensland and LAWASIA the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific - which sees the editorship of LAWASIA Journal move to the T C Beirne School of Law.

Dr Jennifer Corrin, a senior lecturer in the T C Beirne School of Law and new joint general editor of the journal said the editorship was quite a coup for the University.

"It's a journal of scholarly writing which also has reports from LAWASIA's divisions and country representatives," she said.

Dr Corrin will be joined as general editor by Dr Ann Black, also from the Law School.

The decision to move LAWASIA Journal from the Northern Territory University coincided with the move of the LAWASIA secretariat to the Queensland Law Society.

Dr Corrin said the new editorship plan to continue the good work of past editors by producing a journal of high quality papers.

"We will be working to maintain the high standard of the journal," she said.

"In the future, we may do a special edition focusing of a specific theme.

"However, for the moment, I think we will just build on the good work done by the previous editorial team."

LAWASIA is a professional association of representatives of bar councils, law associations, individual lawyers, law firms and corporations principally from the Asia Pacific region.
