This year's Bundamba Big Splash, an annual collaborative community event between the Ipswich City Council and UQ's School of Tourism has once again been labeled a hit by all those involved.
Held at the Ipswich Knights Soccer Grounds and the adjacent Bundamba Swim Centre the community event was aimed at getting kids active by trying a range of sports.
School of Tourism Lecturer and coordinator of Bundamba Big Splash 2003 Dr Lee Slaughter, said there was a good turnout on the day.
"This year we had over 100 kids in the morning and approximately 500 went to the pool in the afternoon."
A number of students from the School of Tourism were on hand to help organise and coordinate the event.
"There were 25 students who volunteered to put the event together and to help out on the day," Dr Slaughter said.
"So it's a great learning experience for the students as well as being a fun day for the kids."
The sports on offer this year included AFL, Rugby League, Hockey, Futsal, Soccer, Rockwall climbing, BMX and Rugby Union.
